INTRODUCING
THE NEW ACTIWATCH SPECTRUM AND ACTIWATCH 2
The new Actiwatch
Spectrum and new Actiwatch 2 are wrist- worn ambulatory devices
that document sleep/wake history over days or weeks at a time. The
devices incorporate accelerometry technology and are capable of
recording subject movement, light exposure and additional measures
in a time series.
ACTIGRAPHY IMPLEMENTATION AND USER SATISFACTION
The new Actiwatch devices incorporate advanced aesthetics and
functionality to help address a lot of the common complaints about
using actigraphy. The Actiwatch system can be implemented by
clinicians and patients with a minimum amount of training.
Automated processes to retrieve data and generate research reports
require only a few minutes of technician time. And, comfortable
watch bands enhance the user experience.
FRESHLY REDESIGNED AND
READY TO WEAR
The Actiwatch devices have been redesigned to help
enable patient compliance while providing advanced functionality
for clinicians and researchers. They are distinct and sleek in
appearance and stand out from other ambulatory devices. Made for
virtually anyone to wear, they are similar to a small digital
watch. Data is downloaded from the devices using our powerful,
analytical software, Actiware.
STATES OF SLEEP AND WAKEFULNESS
ACCURATELY IDENTIFIED
Multiple clinical research studies have been
published to compare the outcome measures derived from actigraphy
and polysomnography, and actigraphy and diaries, for different
patient populations in short-term sleep studies with varying
results. Agreement rates for the scoring of individual epochs by
actigraphy and PSG have been published showing correlation rates in
excess of 90%.
KEY TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS FOR CLINICAL
APPLICATION
Recent development of off-wrist detection, multicolored
light exposure recordings and automated identification of major and
minor periods of rest are key technological advances that will
enable Actiwatch to be more easily applied in clinical practice and
should help make new areas of research possible. For more
