AASM RECOMMENDATION
Sleepmate’s
patent pending CannuTherm™ thermal/pressure sensor is used to
detect nasal pressure and nasal and oral thermal airflow for
recording onto a polysomnographic, EEG or similar type of
physiological recorder. The thermal sensor plugs directly into the
electrode jack box, while the disposable cannula plugs into any
airflow pressure sensor; such as the Sleepmate 14800 or 14804.
This cannula and sensor system is designed for ease of fit and maximum
patient comfort in mind. The cannula is fitted to the patient by
placing the soft nasal prongs in the nares and looping the tubing
over the patient’s ears. The “Bolo-Style”
adjustable slide is cinched up under the patient’s chin to
secure it comfortably in place. The nasal cannula allows the
pressure transducer to detect nasal breathing as recommended by the
AASM.
The thermal sensor is designed to easily plug into the CannuTherm™ custom cannula. The nasal temperature probe
within the cannula chamber detects nasal breathing, while the oral
probe can be positioned by the sleep tech in front of the
patient’s mouth for oral breathing as recommended by the
AASM. The oral probe of the thermal sensor should be positioned
such that the probe is exposed to the maximum available airflow.
The oral probe is flexible to allow the probe to be bent gently to
insure that it is in the path of airflow. The nasal probe is simply
inserted into the port on the CannuTherm™ cannula and
requires no adjustment. The lead wire of the thermal sensor is
easif the patient. The entire sensor is light, comfortable and
rests gently and securely on the patient without the need for
taping separate sensors together. Patients are more comfortable and
less likely to dislodge the sensor during sleep. Sleepmate believes
that increased patient comfort leads to less work for the tech and
more accurate results from the sleep study.
WARRANTY
Sleepmate®
Technologies warrants the thermal sensor to be free of defects in
materials and workmanship for a period of six (6) months from the
date purchased.
INDUSTRY EXCELLENCE
Sleepmate® Technologies is
a medical design and manufacturing company that has served the
sleep industry since its inception in 1986. A full range of adult
and pediatric sensors are offered to meet the needs of sleep labs
and the new AASM standards. Sensors are made in the USA using ISO
9001:2000 manufacturer procedures. All sensors are highly accurate,
easy to use, and very comfortable for patients. Visit
